Clients often ask, at what point in the design process should an area rug be selected? They want to know if the selection of the rug or the furniture should come first. The answer is neither; a rug and and the furniture it surrounds should be chosen at the same time. While making these decisions, it may become obvious what will be the focal point of the room. In some cases, a subtle rug may compliment more dramatic furniture and accessories. At other times, a dynamic rug may dominate the room. Using neutral clean-lined frames and simple touches will complete the look. The right rug may be the beginning of a spectacular statement, or the perfect crowning touch to a great room.
